Founded by Johann Bödecker & Jamie Hall, two former employees at retail giants like Nike, Levi’s and Coca-Cola, London’s Pentatonic aims to recycle waste into premium furniture. They recently joined Snarkitecture on "Fractured" tables and chairs, which they’re follow up with a range of goods crafted from fashion waste.
Dubbed "New Clothes," the selection encompasses Pentatonic’s AirTool chairs and hangers, all of which offer fabrics formed from upcycled fashion waste, like discarded clothes and factory scraps. This makes each item unique, while the company’s dedication to quality ensures comfortable, long-lasting design. Accompanying the chairs and hangers are pillows created in partnership with Italian textile house Bonotto, featuring a premium jacquard-printed fabric created from discarded bottles.
Pentatonic is commemorating the collection by launching a pop-up shop inside Parisian gallery, The Supermarket. Inside, guests can observe the process & benefits of the recycling process and buy items from the release.

Vans has teamed up with American hip-hop collective A Tribe Called Quest on an expansive six-shoe collection that features the Vans Authentic, Sk8-Hi, Era, Old Skool and Slip-On models. The collaborative colorways nod to ATCQ members Q-Tip, the late Phife Dawg, Jarobi White and Ali Shaheed Muhammad, featuring the group’s signature stick figures and album cover artwork.
Some sneakers feature special embroidery at the heel counter, one model boasts motifs referencing the song "Bonita Applebum," another with a print using the album art of The Anthology, and two models sport all-black and black/red leather uppers. Each sneaker has collaborative ATCQ insoles and comes in adult, kids and toddler sizes.
The A Tribe Called Quest x Vans collection will have a general release on April 6 with prices ranging from $37 to $85 USD. An exclusive pre-release will take place at the House of Vans in Brooklyn as part of a two-day pop-up event from March 30 to 31. Acclaimed Japanese artist Haroshi will bring his massive Ramp installation made of skateboard decks to Art Basel Hong Kong 2018. The skateable installation was first unveiled in April 2017 as part of the artist’s "Guzo" exhibit in NANZUKA’s Tokyo gallery. Accompanying the towering artwork is a new selection of skate deck sculptures on display from Haroshi’s inaugural "Stone Pile" series. It’s important to mention that no special machinery or tools were used to create these works. Instead, they were all crafted by hand.
The artworks will be on display at NANZUKA’s booth (3C29) during the art fair starting March 29 up until March 31 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. NANZUKA is currently hosting Keiichi Tanaami and Oliver Payne’s renowned joint exhibition titled “Perfect Cherry Blossom.”
